The World Ayurveda Congress 2024 (WAC 2024) will launch its 10th edition on December 12 in Dehradun, alongside the Arogya Expo, heralding a rejuvenation for the ancient Indian wellness approach.
Focusing on the theme ‘Digital Health – An Ayurveda Perspective’, the four-day conference will engage in comprehensive discussions about utilizing modern technology to enhance the delivery of ayurvedic solutions and restructure related R&D initiatives, as reported by sources to Pharmabiz.
As the largest international assembly in the ayurveda sector, this biennial event welcomes ayurvedic professionals, academics, researchers, administrators, government dignitaries, and students alike. It is organized by the World Ayurveda Foundation (WAF), an endeavor established by Vijnana Bharati.
The Ayush Ministry, along with the Indian Government and several state governments, such as Uttarakhand, Gujarat, Goa, Kerala, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and West Bengal, will collaborate with prominent ayurvedic organizations to host the event as partner states.
Uttarakhand’s Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed pride in hosting the WAC 2024, highlighting Uttarakhand’s long-standing heritage as a hub for Yoga and Ayurveda.
Described by the Chief Minister as “Pragya Bhoomi,” the rich natural habitat and favorable climate of Uttarakhand have fostered the growth and experimentation of Ayurveda by ancient sages in this “land of wisdom.”
Dr. Shekhar Mande, President of Vijnana Bharati, explained that ‘digital health’ embodies a cross-disciplinary strategy merging technology with healthcare, serving as a catalyst in pediatric, geriatric, and epidemic wellness solutions.
The current WAC edition is emphasized on synthesizing technological advancements like AI (artificial intelligence), AR (augmented reality), and blockchain with all ayurvedic sectors, Dr. Mande elaborated.
With over 5,500 participants from India and 350 international delegates from 54 countries, the conference plans to host over 150 scientific presentations and 13 associated activities along with plenary discussions. These sessions will delve into Ayurveda’s capacity to tackle various health issues.
Not only ayurvedic institutions but universities nationwide are engaging with the congress as associates. The Arogya Expo will introduce products and services from notable ayurvedic bodies globally, featuring more than 350 stalls anticipated to attract 150,000 visitors.
Distinguished contributors such as Union Minister of State Prataprao Ganpatrao Jadhav, Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Ministry of Ayush Secretary, and Dr. P M Varier, National Organizing Committee Chairman, are scheduled to deliver talks among other key figures.
Founded in 2011 as an initiative of Vijnana Bharati, WAF strives to expand Ayurveda’s global influence through unified cooperation among stakeholders across the board.
