Director of Devbhoomi Pharmaceuticals Mr. Sangeet Dixit said the upcoming Green Pharmaceutical Innovation Research Park at Sedrapet, Pondicherry in which the pharmacy college & pharmaceutical industry along with the health department will work for hand in hand is a dream he aspired for a long. He said that it will solve the problem of skilled technical staff in the pharma industry. In the current scenario, technical staff coming out after finishing college studies like B. Pharma & M. Pharma do not have much exposure to industry & it takes a lot of time to train them. In a recent development Govt. of Pondicherry has made an arrangement between pharmaceutical industries, pharmacy colleges & health departments as per which an Industrial Park will be set up & pharmacy college will be associated with that park.
There will be a state-of-the-art common testing laboratory where pharmacy students can have first-hand experience in testing pharmaceutical products on the latest instruments. Students can also learn manufacturing technology in the drug manufacturing facility. Students of pharmacy colleges read about pharmaceutical machines in their textbooks & their knowledge are theoretical, but due to this park now they can read about machines as well as see them running in pharmaceutical factories. It will definitely increase the skills of pharmacy students. It is just like MBBS students who while studying attend hospitals also to gain experience in work they will do after completing their education. More than 100 pharmaceutical industries from all around India have shown interest in this park. The total area of the park will be more than 100 acres & around Rs. 500 cr. will be required to develop it. This pact has been signed between Drugs Controller Pondicherry Mr. U Ananda Krishnan, VC of the Pondicherry University of Technology Dr. P Mohan & Director of Indira Gandhi Medical College & Research Institute Dr. D Udyashankar.
