Boehringer Ingelheim India, as part of its Angels Initiative, has partnered with RED.Health to formalize efforts aimed at elevating stroke care in pre-hospital scenarios across India.
This alliance highlights a mutual dedication to improving emergency healthcare services and facilitating prompt medical interventions that can save lives. The agreement was finalized just prior to World Stroke Day, emphasizing both entities’ joint mission to pioneer advancements in stroke management and contribute positively to India’s Stroke Care Eco-system.
India is experiencing a surge in stroke occurrences, with the condition ranking as the fourth major cause of death and the fifth leading contributor to disability. While common, many stroke victims miss the critical “golden period” for treatment upon hospital arrival, significantly impacting treatment efficacy.
Swift intervention within 4.5 hours of symptom onset is crucial for stroke patients. This initiative seeks to alter current dynamics by ensuring quicker medical response times, extensive education, and the application of cutting-edge medical protocols prior to hospital admission. By establishing standardized stroke procedures and bolstering EMT capabilities through targeted training, the initiative is set to revolutionize stroke care outcomes.
“Structured and prompt intervention bears the potential to revolutionize stroke treatment outcomes. Our collaboration with RED.Health aims to fortify emergency stroke treatment, guaranteeing every patient receives prompt and exceptional care. We are geared towards creating a patient-centric healthcare model that provides hope to countless families in India,” remarked Gagandeep Singh Bedi, Managing Director of Boehringer Ingelheim India.
Prabhdeep Singh, founder and CEO of RED.Health, said, “Stroke affects millions in India each year, where rapid intervention is key to saving lives and improving recovery rates. At RED.Health, we are committed to delivering swift, trustworthy, and empathetic emergency services when crucial. Our partnership with Boehringer Ingelheim boosts our nationwide ability to handle stroke cases effectively. This MoU marks a pivotal advancement in equipping our emergency teams with top-tier training and procedures, reiterating our pledge to advance emergency services and provide vital support to communities nationwide.”
The agreement outlines the implementation of protocolized stroke procedures for RED.Health ambulance operations, with a focus on utilizing the FAST scale—Face, Arm, Speech, Time—during the transportation process. Additionally, Boehringer’s Angels Initiative will offer training and support to RED.Health at no cost, highlighting the mutual goal of enhancing emergency healthcare provision within India. Beyond this, RED.Health will gain privileges to advanced stroke life support and emergency medical certifications via the Angels Initiative, further empowering their emergency response units. RED.Health will also engage with the EMS Angels Awards, monitoring quality through a stroke registry.
Launched in 2016, RED.Health is transforming ambulance services by making them more affordable and accessible for millions. It stands as a leader in emergency response services, passionately providing immediate and efficient care for critical conditions through its skilled EMTs and state-of-the-art equipment.
