A tragic gas leak at a pharmaceutical facility in Sangli, Maharashtra, claimed the lives of three individuals, including two women and a watchman, and left eight others injured on Thursday night. Authorities suspect the incident was triggered by a reactor explosion.
According to reports, the injured are receiving medical care at a local hospital, with one of them, identified as the factory owner, reported to be in critical condition. Investigators, along with forensic experts, are probing the cause, which is believed to be linked to a technical malfunction in the reactor.
In a separate incident earlier the same day, a significant fire broke out at a factory in the Tarapur area of Palghar district, located in the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC).
This is not the first such incident in the region this year. In September, a gas leak occurred at a chemical plant in Ambernath, Thane district. Furthermore, a reactor explosion in the Dombivli MIDC area of Thane killed 13 people in May, and a major fire erupted in another chemical facility in June.
