A tragic gas leak incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon at Tagore Pharma in Paravada, Anakapalli district, Andhra Pradesh. According to District Fire Officer P. Nageswarao, one worker lost their life while undergoing treatment for inhaling toxic gas, and nine others are currently receiving medical care at various hospitals. The gas, which included a mixture of HCL, reportedly leaked during operations at the facility.
Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSRCP President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed his condolences for the deceased and urged the government to ensure quality medical treatment for the hospitalized workers and adequate support for the bereaved family.
Anakapalli District Collector Vijaya Krishnan and former Andhra Pradesh Minister Gudivada Amarnath visited the injured in the hospital. Amarnath criticized the increasing frequency of such incidents and called for stringent monitoring of safety norms at industrial facilities.
“These incidents are happening far too often. The state government must take this seriously and enforce strict safety audits every 3-6 months,” said Gudivada Amarnath. He also urged authorities to take strong action against negligent companies, emphasizing that this is not a political issue but a matter of industrial safety and accountability.
