Mindset Medical has announced the successful acquisition of FDA 510(k) clearance for its innovative contactless pulse monitoring tool, the IVC application. This marks the company’s inaugural FDA clearance, occurring after a Series A funding round completed earlier this year for the Phoenix-based enterprise.
The IVC (Informed Vital Core) app enables healthcare providers to gather pulse rate data from patients in the comfort of their homes, utilizing devices such as smartphones, tablets, or laptops. This application simplifies the collection of basic health metrics for healthcare professionals, whether in clinics, long-term care facilities, or directly in the patients’ homes.
Mindset Medical aims to extend the app’s capabilities to cover additional physiological measurements in the future. The goal is not to replace wearable tech or in-person healthcare visits, but to broaden the accessibility of the critical information provided by the app whenever patients use their smartphones.
With ongoing physician and nursing shortages, coupled with a growing elderly population, the company recognizes significant advantages for both patients and healthcare providers by employing smartphones for remote care.
“Mindset Medical is dedicated to bringing impactful healthcare solutions directly to patients’ homes through the ordinary, yet versatile, smartphone. This innovation could promote health equity by potentially eliminating many common obstacles faced by patients and healthcare workers,” stated Mitch Foster, chairman and CEO of Mindset Medical.
