Mendaera announced today the appointment of surgical robotics expert Eric Davidson as its inaugural chief commercial officer (CCO). Davidson will spearhead the company’s commercial strategies as it gears up to launch its groundbreaking robotic solutions. Based in San Mateo, California, Mendaera is creating a platform combining robotics, artificial intelligence, real-time imaging, and virtual connectivity. This versatile system is engineered to be accessible across various specialties and institutions, meeting the rising need for needle-based procedures.
Recently, Mendaera secured $73 million in funding to advance its innovative technologies. In addition, the company acquired telepresence technology from Avail Medsystems last year, bringing aboard several of the latter’s former employees.
Davidson brings over 20 years of expertise in steering advancements within medical robotics and healthcare technology. His journey includes a nine-year tenure at the forefront of Intuitive Surgical’s marketing and product strategies. Subsequently, he became the VP of sales and marketing at Auris Health, which was later acquired by Johnson & Johnson.
Post-acquisition, Davidson played a pivotal role in integrating Auris’ innovations into J&J’s MedTech offerings and later presided over their Flexible Robotics division.
His most recent position was president and COO of Eko Health, which focuses on developing AI-driven stethoscope technologies. “Joining Mendaera at such a pivotal moment for the company and the broader healthcare landscape is incredibly exciting,” Davidson said. “Mendaera’s robotic innovations emerge at a time when healthcare systems are grappling with labor shortages, necessitating solutions that enhance care access. I am eager to contribute to building an outstanding organization that can deliver these essential tools to healthcare providers and their patients.”
