Philips (NYSE: PHG) has revealed the appointment of Jie Xue as the new chief business leader for Precision Diagnosis and Özlem Fidanci as the head of the international region. These appointments were made effective as of January 1. Xue and Fidanci will become members of Philips’ executive committee and will directly report to CEO Roy Jakobs.
Xue, who previously worked at GE HealthCare for over 25 years—finishing as the president and CEO for global MR imaging—steps into the role left by Bert van Meurs. He will continue to lead the company’s Image-Guided Therapy business, with both he and Xue sharing responsibility for the Diagnosis & Treatment division.
Özlem Fidanci takes over from Edwin Paalvast, who retired after dedicating five years to Philips and a total of over 35 years in the industry. Fidanci’s experience spans over 22 years at Philips, where she has served in roles such as health systems leader and market leader for the Middle East & Türkiye. Before her return, she briefly worked with Versuni, a consumer electronics firm.
CEO Jakobs commented: “Jie brings impressive global leadership experience and substantial expertise in medtech, focusing on people-first development and consistent value creation. Özlem, known for her consumer and medtech knowledge, has a proven record of driving growth across markets by collaborating with customers and governments. Her ability to build high-performing teams will be invaluable. Their leadership will be instrumental in our mission to expand access to quality healthcare.”
