BP Arun Takes Charge as Karnataka’s New Drug Control Licensing Authority

The Karnataka government has named BP Arun, the Deputy Drug Controller at the Mysuru regional office, as the latest authority for licensing, controlling, and approving in the state’s drug control department. Arun steps in as the successor to Dr. Umesh S.

A statement issued by the state’s directorate of health and family welfare confirmed that this appointment is effective immediately, reflecting the interests of public service and administrative efficacy. This decision abides by the guidelines set forth in the Drugs & Cosmetics Act and Rules. BP Arun is now responsible for overseeing the licensing, regulation, and approval processes concerning pharmaceutical manufacturing and marketing firms.

Additionally, Arun’s role includes the issuance and renewal of pharmacy licenses throughout the state’s 31 districts. As the licensing authority, he will possess the authority to delegate certain licensing responsibilities as dictated by Part VI and VI-A of the Drugs and Cosmetic Rules to subordinate officers, in alignment with Rules 60 and 67-B, as stated in the official communique.
