The Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) in Manipal, home to the cGMP center, has once again been honored with the India Pharma Awards 2024, celebrating its outstanding dedication to enhancing pharmaceutical quality. For the second consecutive year, the institution has been acknowledged for its groundbreaking efforts, receiving a special recognition award within the Excellence in Quality category, attributed to its innovative Manipal cGMP Museum. This museum pays tribute to Dr. TMA Pai, the esteemed founder of Manipal and a recipient of the prestigious Padmashree award.
The 2024 awards ceremony took place during day one of the CPHI-PMEC India event, scheduled from November 25-27 at Greater Noida’s India Expo Center. This gathering attracted over 2,000 exhibitors and around 50,000 participants.
The cGMP Center’s proposal, which underscored its pioneering digital museum focusing on pharmaceutical quality and history, was met with acclaim. This initiative emphasizes the institution’s commitment to top-notch quality assurance systems, technological advancements, in-depth training modules, and meaningful impact metrics. Furthermore, it documented various certifications, accolades, and endorsements that reinforce its industry leadership position.
Representatives Dr. Girish Pai K and Dr. Muddukrishna BS unveiled the Center’s innovative Manipal cGMP Museum at the award ceremony in New Delhi on November 25, 2024. They delivered a succinct presentation showcasing essential criteria like regulatory adherence, quality control frameworks, internal coaching, and cost-effectiveness. The initiative received commendations from jury members for its innovation and societal influence, establishing it as a milestone in the pharmaceutical field.
Amid 276 submissions from prominent pharmaceutical firms and academic entities, the proposal from the cGMP Center progressed to the final jury round. The selection process entailed a comprehensive evaluation of the provided documents by a panel of six distinguished jury members. It distinguished itself due to its quality, innovation, and societal relevance.
Dr. Girish Pai K and Dr. Muddukrishna BS accepted the award on behalf of MAHE, receiving it from Balachandra Barve, Joint Managing Director of Blue Cross Laboratories, in the presence of industry veterans, pharmaceutical innovators, and executive figures from global pharmaceutical companies.
This accolade reaffirms the cGMP Center’s leading role in pharmaceutical quality management and its steadfast dedication to training excellence, inventive approaches, and societal contributions, underscoring its significance in shaping global pharmaceutical education and research, as stated by MAHE in a press release.
