DCGI Set to Inaugurate AIPAC Event in Indore on December 12 to Empower MSMEs through Dissolution Science

The All India Pharmaceutical Association Consortium (AIPAC) has announced its inaugural programme, focused on enhancing the skills and scientific capabilities of pharmaceutical professionals, especially those from Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). This initiative seeks to bolster knowledge and excellence in the pharmaceutical field. Scheduled for December 12, 2024, at the Prestige Institute of Management & Research in Indore, the event’s opening will be graced by Dr. Rajeev Singh Raghuvanshi, India’s Drugs Controller General from the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO).

The programme represents a collaborative effort between AIPAC, the Society for Pharmaceutical Dissolution Science (SPDS), the Indian Drug Manufacturers’ Association-MP State Board (IDMA-MP), and the Madhya Pradesh State Drugs and Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (MPSDMA). The effort was spearheaded by IDMA, Mumbai through the SME committee headed by S R Vaidya, alongside Paresh Chawla of IDMA, MP state Board.

The event aims to narrow the existing knowledge divide within the MSME sector, equipping participants to produce high-quality pharmaceuticals in line with international standards.

Addressing a similar initiative at the 2023 Disso India conference, Dr. Rajeev Singh Raghuvanshi noted the challenges MSMEs face, such as high participation costs in prestigious conferences. In response, AIPAC was conceived to convene 15 national pharmaceutical associations, offering tailored and affordable training to MSME professionals, supported by regulatory authorities like the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization and State FDA.

Through focused coaching, AIPAC intends to assist MSMEs in maintaining compliance while producing superior medicinal products, recognizing their pivotal role in India’s pharmaceutical landscape.

Key collaborators such as SPDS and IDMA-MP back the event. Known for its role in disseminating pharmaceutical dissolution science knowledge globally, SPDS annually organizes the Disso India conference, inviting experts in the field. SPDS president, Dr. Padma Devarajan, will provide insights into the critical significance of dissolution science in pharmaceutical manufacture.

The symposium is the brainchild of Vijay Kshirsagar, past president of SPDS.

IDMA’s involvement is crucial for ensuring that AIPAC’s educational sessions are congruent with industry and regulatory requirements. Furthermore, MPSDMA’s president, Dr. Darshan Kataria, will offer insights on overcoming challenges in drug production and quality adherence for the MSME sector.

At the heart of the conference is the theme “Symposium on Dissolution Science & Technology for QA, QC, R&D and Regulatory Professionals of Pharma,” featuring intensive sessions on critical aspects such as dissolution testing, regulatory standards, and quality assurance. The event targets professionals from QA, QC, R&D, and regulatory fields within the pharmaceutical industry.

Technical sessions will explore various topics such as:
– “Why Dissolution is So Important? How It Got Evolved? Current Regulatory Scenario & Concerns” – Vijay Kshirsagar
– “Dissolution Chapter & Different Types of Dissolution Apparatus as per IP including Type IV, an Emerging Tool” – Suhas Yewale
– “Development of Discriminatory Dissolution Methods” – Dr. Rupesh Kelaskar
– “Validation/Verification of Dissolution Methods” – Sudhir Tomar
– “Investigation of OOS Results During Dissolution Testing” – Rajendra Dadhich
– “Dissolution Medium: A Critical Parameter in Dissolution Testing” – Dr. Padma Devarajan
– “Common Deviations in Dissolution Testing” – Sonalika Parashar

A central panel discussion titled “What Care Needs to Be Taken During Dissolution Testing? Common Flaws” will feature noteworthy participants and be moderated by Dr. Rajiv Desai.

The event commencement and keynote will be led by Dr. Rajeev Singh Raghuvanshi, who has long championed higher standards within MSMEs. Alongside, Dr. L. Ramaswamy, AIPAC’s founder, will articulate the consortium’s vision of creating a comprehensive platform for the development and competitiveness of India’s pharmaceutical MSMEs.

The event anticipates drawing over 150 delegates, including industry professionals, regulatory authorities, and academics. Graduate and doctoral candidates in pharmaceutics and pharmaceutical analysis, along with their educators, are also among the expected attendees, promoting the inclusion of upcoming pharmaceutical experts.

By uniting esteemed professionals, regulators, and industry veterans, AIPAC is addressing immediate MSME needs and ensuring sustained advancement in India’s pharmaceutical sector.

Partnerships for this event include Sotax, leading in dissolution technology, USP, IP, and Asian Paints.
