A growing interest in cost-effective respiratory solutions is being observed in both urban and rural sectors nationwide, spurred by an enhanced understanding of respiratory health post-Covid-19, according to a sector specialist.
Suhas Shubhakaran, the co-founder of Oxymed under Karnataka-based Medequip Healthcare Solutions Pvt Ltd, highlighted the company’s strategic plan to introduce more budget-friendly pricing alternatives, including favorable financing options.
“After Covid-19, there has been a notable transformation in the respiratory products arena. The pandemic has heightened awareness about respiratory wellbeing, turning oxygen concentrators and CPAP machines into indispensable medical devices,” he noted. The demand is escalating not just in cities but in rural regions as well, as individuals search for dependable, long-term management for ailments such as COPD and sleep apnea.
Additionally, the company is advancing in developing cutting-edge technology for CPAP therapy to align with evolving market dynamics, aiming to establish a robust footing within the Indian respiratory care solutions sector over the medium term.
Despite facing hurdles stemming from a complex regulatory environment, the firm acknowledged that heightened respiratory health consciousness paves the way for expanding its market reach and supplying products adaptable to diverse income levels.
“We are conquering several significant challenges directly to maintain sustainable expansion. Recent supply chain interruptions have led us to enhance our supplier networks and create strategic partnerships, thereby strengthening our supply chain resilience,” Shubhakaran added.
To accommodate growing demands, prioritizing quality assurance and regulatory adherence has become crucial, leading to the implementation of stricter quality control protocols and a specialized compliance team tasked with ensuring conformity to industry standards.
Moreover, the company is considering tapping into international markets characterized by high demand for respiratory care through strategic alliances and distribution contracts, Shubhakaran elaborated.
