Innovative 10′ x 48′ Mobile MRI Scanner Launched by Interim Diagnostic Imaging & Modular Devices

Interim Diagnostic Imaging (IDI), in collaboration with its parent company, Modular Devices—a frontrunner in mobile imaging technologies—has launched a game-changing advancement in mobile medical imaging: an all-new 10′ wide Mobile MRI Scanner. This expanded-width trailer stands out as it is 2′ broader than any other Mobile MRI trailer available in the industry.

This pioneering 10′ wide Mobile MRI by IDI is set to be introduced and showcased at the RSNA Annual Meeting in Chicago, IL, from December 1-4, 2024, at Booth #1569. This presentation is in partnership with TDC Trailer and Larry Sodomire, who both played key roles in designing and building the new trailer. Healthcare professionals are encouraged to explore the new Mobile MRI at RSNA to experience the benefits of the extra two feet of space.

Standard mobile MRI scanners are typically restricted to an 8-foot width. However, IDI’s innovation offers a 25% increase in workspace compared to the traditional 8′ width, enhancing both the user and patient experience by providing:

– An expanded patient changing area capable of housing MRI-safe gurneys, thereby improving patient comfort and workflow efficiency.
– A more spacious control room for staff to operate more efficiently, particularly in demanding or urgent situations.
– An additional 2′ of clearance around the table and magnet for safer and simpler patient positioning.
– Streamlined deployment, bypassing the need for modular building permits, which allows the unit to be quickly operational.

The new unit is fitted with the Siemens Aera 1.5T MRI, which offers remarkable imaging quality and patient comfort with its 70 cm open bore. Sophisticated coil configurations support both routine and advanced imaging needs. Real-time monitoring and a service agreement with Siemens OEM ensure consistent performance in challenging environments.

Carefully designed by IDI and TDC Trailer for versatility, the trailer provides both short- and long-term rental options suitable for healthcare facilities of varying sizes. This flexibility allows healthcare providers to rapidly enhance their imaging capabilities without the burden of long-term commitments, all while enjoying the reliable service for which IDI and Modular Devices are renowned.

“With a legacy of over 40 years as a leader in mobile imaging solutions, our drive for innovation remains unwavering. By introducing the 10′ wide MRI, we’ve answered our customers’ demand for a more spacious Mobile MRI. This novel unit addresses critical issues faced by healthcare providers, especially in parts where space, productivity, and efficiency are paramount,” stated Mark Koers, CEO of Modular Devices, emphasizing the significance of the development.
