The Noida International Institute of Medical Sciences (NIIMS) recently announced the triumphant wrap-up of GENOME 2024, a vibrant three-day multicultural festivity crafted by fourth-year students from the 2020 batch. This event aimed to highlight the artistic flair, talents, and transition of stress among medical students and healthcare professionals.
The event kicked off with a cornerstone ceremony where students imprinted their colorful handprints to form a symbolic flag, representing unity and creativity. Esteemed dignitaries graced the inauguration, including Dr. Ashutosh Niranjan, Dean, NIIMS Medical College, Dr. Arun Chowdhary, Deputy Dean, Dr. S N Gupta, Director, and Dr. C S Ahluwalia, Medical Superintendent, along with Dr. Devesh Kumar Singh, Chairman of Noida International University.
Dr. Ashutosh Niranjan remarked, “GENOME 2024 has illustrated the blend of innovation and science, serving as a crucial avenue for students to relax, invent, and connect. These types of initiatives are essential for nurturing the future of empathetic and well-rounded healthcare experts.”
The lively festivity experienced overwhelming involvement from around 750 students, who exhibited their vast skills and talents across a series of unique activities. GENOME 2024 sought to provide a refreshing platform for medical students and practitioners to build connections that extend beyond academic and professional spheres.
One of the notable attractions was the unveiling of a DNA model, skillfully designed by the medical students with exact measurements and creativity. This model stood as a testament to the students’ scientific prowess and teamwork. The three-day event presented activities such as rangoli making, reel creation, photo exhibitions, clay models, poster craft, quizzes, creative writing, open mics, instrumentals & singing, fashion displays, dance, face painting, debates, and many more, with numerous students receiving certificates in recognition. The celebration wrapped up with a lively DJ night, leaving students joyful and the event a notable success.
Dr. Dhruv Rawal, organizing secretary of the event, expressed, “This marked the first time NIIMS Medical College hosted GENOME 2024, setting a precedent for future medical students to follow. The event served as a haven for the emerging talents of medical professionals, enabling them to tackle stress and embark on a fresh start in their careers.”
