Philips Enhances Strategic Partnership with AWS for AI Solutions

Philips (NYSE:PHG) recently declared an enhancement in its strategic alliance with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
This collaboration extends Philips’ suite of integrated diagnostics to the cloud, encompassing areas like radiology, digital pathology, cardiology, and advanced AI visualization tools. The joint efforts of Philips and AWS are directed towards streamlining diagnostic procedures to improve accessibility to crucial insights, thereby enhancing results across various medical fields.
According to Matt Garman, CEO of AWS, “The alliance between Philips and AWS offers healthcare professionals scalable, securely crafted cloud solutions to hasten healthcare innovations. By integrating Philips’ healthcare informatics with AWS’s generative AI capabilities, clinicians can gain imaging insights crucial for delivering more reliable and efficient care anywhere, anytime, with top-notch security and privacy.”
Back in April 2023, both entities collaborated to develop generative AI applications with a focus on Philips’ image archiving and communications systems. By March of the present year, the partnership intensified, concentrating on digital pathology in the cloud.
As highlighted in a recent press release, Philips has already transitioned over 150 locations across North and Latin America to its HealthSuite Imaging on AWS and continues to progress, enabling faster shifts of healthcare systems to the cloud. Plans are underway to facilitate similar customer cloud shifts in Europe.
Philips aims to craft robust generative AI applications by employing cutting-edge foundational models from Amazon Bedrock, aiming for smooth integration into clinical workflows to minimize administrative burdens and repetitive tasks.
Roy Jakobs, CEO of Royal Philips, stated, “Our cloud-based healthcare informatics allow us to achieve better outcomes across fields such as radiology, digital pathology, and cardiology. We collaborate closely with clinicians to make processes more efficient, freeing valuable time for healthcare providers. Partnering with AWS enables us to innovate at a quicker pace and extend excellent care to more individuals.”
