Ras Luxury Skincare, the Indian beauty brand known for its premium offerings, has successfully raised $5 million (approximately Rs 43 crore) in Series A funding. Unilever Ventures spearheaded this investment round, alongside Amazon Smbhav Venture Fund, Sixth Sense Ventures, and several angel investors.
The newly acquired capital will facilitate various strategic initiatives, including expanding retail presence, hiring talent, enhancing research and development, expanding product lines, marketing efforts, and technological improvements. Emerging in 2017, Ras was founded by Shubhika Jain, Suramya Jain, and Sangeeta Jain. The brand initially embraced a direct-to-consumer model, focusing on online sales of skincare products and essential oils.
Pawan Chaturvedi, who heads Unilever Ventures Asia, emphasized the promising future of India’s premium beauty sector, explaining, “In the coming 5-7 years, significant growth is anticipated in this market segment, and Ras, with its unique value proposition, is strategically positioned to seize the opportunity.”
