Siemens Healthineers has recently unveiled an enhancement of its strategic alliance with The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
The new agreement, valued at $105 million over a decade, aims to establish a center for imaging excellence. This initiative will bring together the expertise of the renowned German medtech leader’s scientists with Ohio State’s clinical and research teams. The goal is to develop innovative solutions that can quickly be applied globally to treat various diseases.
“Bringing together the strengths of both our entities empowers us to do more for our patients, both locally and internationally,” stated Dr. John J. Warner, CEO of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and EVP at Ohio State, in a statement released yesterday.
“We have a wealth of specialized scientists working in fields like oncology, cardiology, neuroscience, and more. Partnering with Siemens Healthineers allows us to tackle medical problems and refine treatments in real-time to benefit our patients – an opportunity we eagerly embrace,” Warner added.
For over 15 years, Siemens Healthineers, along with Varian, a part of their group, has been the primary supplier of imaging technology to The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center and the Comprehensive Cancer Center at Ohio State University’s Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital. This includes MRI, CT, molecular imaging, X-ray, interventional radiology, and radiation oncology systems.
“Our partnership with The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center fosters the best from both organizations,” commented David Pacitti, President and Head of the Americas at Siemens Healthineers. “Beyond providing cutting-edge imaging and other tools, our research collaboration leads to joint technology development aimed at saving and enhancing lives.”
