Synchron and Team Gleason Partner to Promote BCI Community Awareness

Synchron has announced an enhanced partnership with Team Gleason aimed at increasing awareness for its brain-computer interface (BCI) community.

Team Gleason, established by former New Orleans Saints player Steve Gleason following his ALS diagnosis in 2011, is a foundation devoted to improving the lives of individuals living with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).

This collaboration underscores a mutual dedication to empowering those facing paralysis and aims to boost the advancement of groundbreaking solutions.

“We are thrilled to expand our collaboration with Team Gleason to elevate the BCI Community’s presence. Our joint efforts will ensure broader participation in shaping the future of neuroprosthetic and BCI technologies,” said Synchron’s CEO & Founder, Dr. Tom Oxley.

Through this partnership, Team Gleason intends to support Synchron’s BCI Community initiative by disseminating information via newsletters, support groups, and social media channels. The initiative seeks to highlight the significance of propelling BCI technology advancements, including Synchron’s innovations.

The distinguishing feature of Synchron’s BCI system is its endovascular delivery method, which utilizes blood vessels to interpret brain signals, potentially enabling severely paralyzed individuals to operate devices through hands-free control.

With a substantial market opportunity, Synchron’s advancements may set the company at the forefront of the expanding BCI sector.

“The BCI Community initiative offers a remarkable chance for those with ALS to influence the future of assistive technologies,” remarked Blair Casey, Executive Director of Team Gleason. “Our continuous partnership with Synchron ensures that the perspectives of people experiencing neurological conditions are central to innovation, driving the creation of solutions that genuinely address their needs.”
