Walmart has revealed a strategic collaboration with Meituan to advance its online business presence in China. This move will see products from the US retail giant available for purchase through the Meituan app’s local delivery network.
According to insights from the Wall Street Journal, approximately 50% of Walmart’s sales in China come from the e-commerce sector. The company experienced a 17% year-over-year increase in net sales during the third quarter of 2024 within the region.
Meituan, recognized as one of China’s premier food delivery platforms with a significant consumer reach, provides Walmart a robust avenue to connect with Chinese customers more effectively.
